Home Events 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005	Tongue, Fakes and Film November 26, 2006 Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd Building Amsterdam "A PERFECT MIX" by Neyde Lantyer A Hora do Brasil Foundation presented Tongue, Fakes and Film, to celebrate its second year of activities in the field of art and culture in the Netherlands. The event has brought together three Brazilian women accomplishing relevant work in the Netherlands. The first one was the language trainer Júlia Abreu de Souza, born in Rio de Janeiro. Júlia was launching her book Basiscursus Portugees van Brazilië: É isso aí!" – the only language method in the Netherlands which is exclusively directed to the Portuguese from Brazil. Julia gave a bright and amusing lecture On Mother and Stepmother Tongues about an issue that appeals to all immigrants: the adventures and hardships of moving to another country, and the adoption of a new language. On the occasion, the new advisor of A Hora do Brasil, the Angolan curator Miguel Petchkowsky, spoke about the significance of the Portuguese language and the importance of Julia's book. The second guest, the graphic designer from São Paulo, Bea Correa, presented her clever and humorous project FAKEWEAR that became a hit in Holland and in the whole world. Bea has stamped the word FAKE on the fake Louis Vuitton bags, provoking the fury of the powerful brand. She is also the creator of the Allochtoon t-shirts, which had the power to spine the Dutch society and to catch the attention of the Dutch media (the word means immigrant and it is considered pejorative). Samples of Bea's products were exhibited during the event. The video-artist Roberta Marques, born in Ceará, ended the program with her film Deixar Ir. Telling the history of two girls from Fortaleza who came to Europe to study dance, the film touched those who live far from home. It also shows the author's personal questioning on her own immigrant condition, the homesickness and the never-ending story of traveling from one country to the other. Roberta wasn't present at the event; choreographer and dancer Claudia Trajano, the new project coordinator of A Hora do Brasil, introduced her. In a full house, the event finished with a cocktail, celebrating another year of A Hora do Brasil's activities. The foundation rejoiced its consolidation in promoting the Brazilian culture under an innovative approach, conquering a place in the hart of the public.
