On September 17, 2005, A Hora do Brasil Foundation presented Candomblé in the Camera. It was a combination of events including a lecture about the Afro-Brazilian religion by Dutch anthropologist Mathijs van de Port, a photo exhibition of Brazilian photographer Chico Colombo and a video projection by Brazilian video-artist Sérgio Ulhõa, both picturing the Yemanjá festivities in Salvador, Bahia. The evening ended with the documentary Black Atlantic: on the Orixas Route.
Even though the subject Candomblé is practically unknown in Holland, the event had a large audience, which shows the increasing interest on the Brazilian culture.
The event was named after the essay Candomblé in the Camera by Mathijs van de Port.
